Shiseido Posts Profits

The company is in the black for the first quarter of 2013.

Shiseido posted a net profit of 2.66 billion yen, which is $26.87 million at average exchange rates. These figures are for the three months that ended June 30.

Sales are up 8.6 percent for the period, to 162.36 billion yen, or $1.64 billion.

The same time last year, Shiseido posted a loss of 1.27 billion yen, or $15.9 million.

Operating income for the three months totaled 6.88 billion yen, or $69.64 million, compared to a loss of 3.02 billion yen, or $37.7 million, last year.

Shiseido also revised its earnings outlook for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014 – and is expecting operating profit to grow by 49.7 percent to 39 billion yen, or $397.57 million, while forecasting a sales increase of 7.3 percent to 727 billion yen, or $7.41 billion.
